Our Experience Making Our Own Website With Jim Edwards' “Mini-Site Creator” Tutorial

We had never even considered the possibility of building our own website. Then one day it became quite clear that not knowing how to create our own website put us totally at the whim of anyone who volunteered to do this for us then didn’t follow through. (That happened to us 2 or 3 times). Or we would have to spend a LOT of money –– maybe thousands - to get someone unfamiliar with our very specialized field to create a money-making website the way we needed it to be. And even then we would not be in a position to easily correct and update it.

The other issue was we didn’t really like the looks of most websites we visited. They were often too cluttered, had tiny links you couldn’t read, links that you had NO idea what the heck they meant, obscure words that you needed to look up in a dictionary to find out what they meant so you could click on them. Sometimes there would be masses of graphics and fancy stuff that hold up the loading of the page for ages till you would just get exasperated, click back and not go there. We were really learning why some internet marketers say that online you have not much more than 3 seconds to grab your visitor’s attention then he’s out of there! We were OFTEN “out of there”!

Well, when we hit Jim Edwards' sales page, that was a whole different ball game. No fluffy stuff. He was enthusiastic about the product and selling at every step of the way - sure. But he had this neat little subscription box and ONLY asked for a first name - which doubled the chance that I would opt in, because I object to having to give masses of personal information just to acquire information. At least until the trust is built that the marketer will not misuse my information.

His whole concept of creating what he calls “mini-sites” (small websites with
only a few pages and focused on one objective) was a revelation and fitted
right in with our experience as a customer with the big “dinosaur websites”
that can get people so confused and unfocused they leave -- because buying
from the site is too confusing and there are too many choices.

Jim’s accounts and rationale regarding mini-sites and their far superior
effectiveness in getting people to purchase products, along with the actual
statistics he presents, got us checking out other mini-sites.

Soon it was obvious that this style of website was easier to build, easier by
far to change and test, and MUCH more effective than the more complex sites in
achieving a single clear objective -- which for most site owners is to get
people to buy something when they visit the website.

Then the mini course he sent when we joined one of his email lists was
full of useful information definitely worth filing, way too valuable and
timesaving to delete.

So in this way we saw that Jim Edwards was someone we wanted to learn to
build websites from. Didn’t care where HE learned it - he could do it. And he
is still the simplest teacher I have found, and he blows his own trumpet much
less than a lot of the other marketing gurus!

The idea of being able to make as many of these money-making mini-sites as
we wanted with total control over the process was just ideal for our needs, so we
committed ourselves to learning how to do it by buying “Mini-Site Creator”.

So why is this Course worth the investment?

To fully answer that you have to look at exactly how challenging
making an income-producing website can be.

Sure, there are all sorts of inexpensive ways you can get a cheap website to get
your information and pictures out there.

But if you want full control of the process so you aren’t waiting on
someone else, if you really want the website to be income-producing, those
little site-building options don’t seem to quite have it all together the way
this product does.

When you have this course you have nothing else to pay to
be able to create all the websites you want –– your only extra expense is
getting domain names and paying hosting fees, and you’re always going to have
to do that even if you pay someone else to create your website.

With my joint venture partners we went through the tutorials on
‘‘Mini-Site Creator’’ together. As purchasers of this Jim Edwards product, we
noticed he is very straightforward and to the point, he does promote a bit in
the audios, but while doing the mini-lessons on video he is fairly focused and
simple. An occasional excursion off on something irrelevant doesn’t detract
from the extreme value of the step-by-step procedures chunked down into
digestible pieces.

Jim is one of the few marketers we have found while we have been
gallivanting wildly around the internet chasing up all sorts of data, who
consistently keeps it simple, and short!

For me that means I am not hooked into a huge long study period
like tackling a 60-minute video.

I can watch small pieces of the procedure, grasp the essence,
rewind and watch again if I miss something, and have a sense of
accomplishment at the end.

Absorption of the material is much better.

Let’s face it, the ideal position to be in regarding internet marketing
is that you own and understand the process of building a website so thoroughly
that making another website gets to be about as challenging as cooking dinner
–– and for some people cooking dinner might be harder!

I have heard marketers talk about putting up a mini-site in a
matter of hours, not days or weeks. It’s the learning that takes
the time –– just the same as at school.

With Jim’s tutorials we can watch a mini-video, draw pictures, open up
the mini-site we are creating, and do the same things –– though not always
with the same results! Sometimes electronic hiccups in our computer give us a
different result from what Jim gets. But I don’t think anyone can be held
responsible for that - except maybe Bill Gates :)) Just kidding!

Here’s an outline of what you get. Jim has a pretty nice summary of the
contents in his sales letter, [which you can also read by Clicking Here
even if you aren’t going to buy the product].

Actually, if you are interested in internet marketing and like
to study good sales letters, it’s worth clicking on it and studying
the letter –– it’s part of a mini-site and is educational in itself.

Now I am going to share some of my experience from going through this course. I
was astonished at how much I learnt, understood, and absorbed with the short
videos and little sketches walking us through the process. It doesn’t just
contain the nuts and bolts of doing it, it’s also showing you how to maximize
your chances of getting sales from the site by the way you present your text,
including a whole lot of small things that might not seem so important to
someone who hasn’t tried it.

However, from the experience of someone who has the sales to show for
it, these are really time-saving to know BEFORE getting your site up and
wasting a lot of time and effort on doing things that don’t get you to the
objective.

There’s really great data I haven’t found anywhere else that covers
a lot of the viewpoint of the customers of your website and their computers,
speed of access to websites, etc, how to make your website so you don’t give
their computers indigestion, how to make sure potential customers with dial-up
connections won’t get frustrated trying to get to your site, etc.

CD-ROM disk #1:

  • Begins with an orientation audio.

  • Walks you though downloading and installing the simplest software for
building a website, Mozilla. To someone who knows about this stuff it’s
no big deal, but I know it would have taken us much longer, I think we
would have had to pay for the software and we probably would have quit
    without the assistance!

  • Covers basic information and definitions about what a mini-site is
    and how it works.

  • Gives you “dos and don’ts” when you are creating your site if you
want to maximize the number of people who actually READ what you’ve got,
and order what you are offering after the site is operational.

  • Shows you how to use the program you will build your website in - it
is VERY simple - actually to me it seemed less complex than the two word
processors I regularly use. Jim keeps to the essential functions you need
and doesn’t get into anything you don’t need to know. (Many experts tend
to do a ‘‘data-dump’’ and overload the student with way more than he can
absorb, Jim is pretty good about not doing that.)

  • Gives you some key secrets to formatting that will save you a LOT of
time - the sort of things you couldn’t possibly know you needed to know
until AFTER you built your site and it was all screwed up when you tried
to view it in the browser!

  • Shows you how to include graphics on your site - if you want to add
pictures from your computer it is a simple procedure but I wouldn’t have
had a clue how to do that without the video showing how.

  • Does a great section on the different types of links, which cleared up
for me a whole bunch of confusion I’d had when I ran across links on the
web and had no idea why I’d suddenly gotten teleported across the planet
to somewhere I didn’t want to go! Jim’s diagrams on the videos worked really
    well for me.

  • Covered choosing a domain name and some pointers I consider REALLY
crucial - stuff that could lose you a lot of potential sales if you don’t
    get it right.

  • Got us to download software to generate headings which is excellent
and very simple, with his instructions. Then we learned how to use it.

  • Had us plan our first mini-page.

  • Plus do some practice using Mozilla, and of course we need some more
practice –– but that’s always true when tackling new subjects.

CD ROM disk #2:
  • Gives you a selection of website templates which you can download.

  • Covers how to use them to make your own individual page. Shows how
to change background colors. Shows how to put in a header.

  • Gives 4 complete demos of creating different kinds of mini-sites:
    1) A one page sales letter including order page;
    2) A simple newsletter including tables and confirmation page;
    3) An ‘‘About me’’ mini-site including links;
    4) An ‘‘Affiliate Showcase’’ mini-site to sell others’ products and make
    commissions.

  • Covers setting up follow-up autoresponders, lists, unsubscribing
from lists, and a bunch of detailed stuff that you wouldn’t know about
    unless you were fairly expert.

  • Has the setup for order pages and how to create them.

  • Goes over all the steps to setting up a download page if your
products are information that is going to be immediately available to
    your customers.

  • Goes over the different ways to get setup to take payment online -
ClickBank, PayPal, plus confirmation pages - and you can set it up as you
watch, right along with the videos.

  • Shows some excellent ways to get free content for your site on the web.

CD-ROM #3:
  • Walks you through the transferring of your files to your web host -
this is one of those mysteries I always wanted to be in control of! And
FTP - File Transfer Protocol - which was always just one more abbreviation
    to me.

  • Contains a section of 7 videos on using the Website Control Panel of
one of Jim’s favorite web hosts.

  • Shows how to set up sub mini-sites on the same domain.

  • Contains a section on creating Pop-Up windows - even though they
aren’t used as much these days there are still some good ways to utilize
them that won’t set your prospects to shrieking wildly with frustration…
Has 7 videos critiquing mini-sites created by the original students.

    And more …….

CD-ROM #4:
  • Goes into tables in more detail.

  • Briefly touches on putting sonic memo buttons on your site.

  • Shows you how to do brief surveys.

  • Covers how to create mini courses to use as incentive for your site
visitors to join your email list, including setting it up on your
    autoresponder.

  • Has another set of critiques of mini-sites created by the course
    students.

  • Covers in a lot of detail - special bonus - a VERY important part of
marketing with 15 videos, almost 2 hours on ‘‘The Ultimate Subscription
Box’’. In this area, from my observation, Jim has very good statistics,
and he does understand very well the thinking and reactions of potential
    customers.

The 5th -- a Bonus CD --is all about Google Adsense, an audio
interview which isn’t as good for retention as those mini-videos that
enhance the learning so well, but it is a bonus, after all!

Remember, Mini-Site Creator has an updates page and Jim sends emails
keeping you informed of various changes using the same mini videos as in
the course - you just click on a link and go there.

Our experience of Jim’s delivery time is that it's very fast, we have two
or three of his products and they have always arrived before we expected them.

All in all, Mini-Site Creator is excellent value and a product that I feel
will stand the test of time. If you use it the end result will be you will
become a Master of Mini-Site Creation! And your income can now be much
more in your control …….
